Mercerized thread is a type of thread that has been given shine in a chemical way. In fact, it is a thread that comes out with the smoothing of cotton thread. In other words, the microscopic protrusions in the cotton thread are removed by the burning process. Thus, the cotton thread looks neat. This yarn, invented by John Merse, is also called mercerization. It is a type of yarn containing cotton.
In the textile sector, the mercerizoyan process is carried out in order to provide a smooth cylindrical appearance by allowing the cotton yarns to swell transversely, and in this way to give the cotton surface smoothness and brightness. The dye uptake ability and strength of towel borders of fabrics that have undergone mercerization are increased.
